ABOUT ME
My name is Catarina Albuquerque and I am a recent Rice University graduate. I double majored in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology, and Sport Management, as well as playing on the DI Women's Soccer team. I was also part of the Portuguese Women's National Team, working my way up from the U16s to the U23s. I speak both English and Portuguese, in addition to studying Spanish all the way through high school, and my ultimate goal is to work at the front office of a professional soccer team.
FAMILY
INTERESTS
I was born in London, England, but I am also half Portuguese. My mother was the first in my family to be born outside of Portugal, followed by siblings and I. I have a twin sister, and my younger brother and sister are also twins. Both my twin sister and I were the first of our family to go to college, and both decided to pursue degrees in the United States.
My biggest passion is soccer. I am a huge Arsenal FC fan and have even had the privilege of playing in their academy before college. I watch the Premier League every week and have always had a soccer rivalry with my father, who is a Liverpool fan. However, we both cheer for Portugal in the international competitions.
As well as soccer, I have a keen interest in music; more specifically Portuguese and Spanish/latin music. My siblings and I fully embraced our Portuguese background and have spent 6 years learning and playing the concertina (a Portuguese instrument) at family parties.

TRAVEL
I love travelling and had the opportunity to visit three cities in Portugal and five cities in Spain in 2022. I visited Porto, Lisbon, Sintra, Seville, Granada, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid. Visiting these amazing cities allowed me to see things such as: La Sagrada Familia, Palacio da Pena, Park Guell and many more. Travelling also allowed me to try different Portuguese and Spanish dishes that I had never tried before. I want to be able to have the flexibility to travel to new countries in the future to continue making all these incredible memories.
